POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a highly motivated Engineer to join our Technology Center in Akron, Ohio. This critical role is responsible for the development and support of off-the-road (OTR) tires used in mining, port/industrial, and construction applications. Working in a collaborative global product development environment, the successful candidate will help solve technical challenges, develop and introduce innovative products for the worldwide OTR marketplace, and support the maintenance, optimization, and enhancement of existing products.

This position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a global R&D environment while receiving mentorship and training in advanced product design tools, engineering processes, and development methodologies. You will deepen your knowledge of mining, port/industrial, and construction tire applications while contributing to meaningful projects that drive innovation and performance improvements across our OTR product portfolio. As part of our team, you will play an active role in product development, optimization, and enhancement initiatives that have a direct impact on customers and industries around the world.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Development of new tire geometry and constructions utilizing company standards to meet customer requirements.
  • Support product maintenance of existing OTR products to ensure they meet the expectations of continually evolving customer needs.
  • Contribute to the manufacturing of quality products, and the enhancement of manufacturing processes.
  • Collaborate with variety of global cross-functional teams (ex. business, marketing, field engineering, field engineering, material development, testing, manufacturing, and simulation) for the development & maintenance of OTR tires.
  • Documentation of findings through presentations for internal stakeholders such as business, marketing, compounding, testing, and field teams.
  • All other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS and SKILLS

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (Minimum) - Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field.
  • Software Knowledge: Computer Aided Design type of software, basic MS Office suite of programs (excel, powerpoint, word, etc.) or the like.
  • Technical Knowledge: A basic comprehension of statistical design and analysis; cause-and-effect analysis; risk analysis.  Display data interpretation skills, and the ability to apply to product development.
  • Soft Skills: Basic analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple projects. Along with basic communication, organization, and collaboration skills.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Ability to communicate clearly and accurately in English in writing or verbally to co-workers, supervisors, customers, and suppliers in person, email, or via telephone.

  • Must be able to operate a computer and mobile devices for extended periods to manage reporting and communication tasks.

SCHEDULE

  • This position follows a hybrid work schedule that combines in-office collaboration with remote work flexibility. Employees are expected to work from the office four days per week, with the option to work remotely one day per week. This schedule is designed to support teamwork, innovation, and professional development while providing work-life flexibility.
