SUMMARY
The Area Sales Manager is responsible for managing all sales efforts for OTR products to the replacement market within a specified territory. The primary responsibility is to drive and elevate the company's product positions and penetration of the market. This person will be internally and externally focused on functional operations in support of customer sales and market requirements. Other duties will include prospecting new opportunities, driving strategic initiatives to accelerate sales growth in the marketplace, providing regular reporting activities and results and other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Enhance Yokohama’s OTR market share by concentrating on sales & basic technical support pointedly on construction, port and mining accounts with an assigned geographic area.
• Manage the customer relationship through all phases of the sales cycle
• Responsible for new business development via prospecting, qualifying, selling, and closing
• Prepare internal and external proposals and presentations in a professional manner
• Provide a consultative solutions sales process to prospects and customers
• Conduct one-on-one and group sales presentations, both internally and externally
• Provide account management to assigned customers
• Responsible for tracking customer information, forecasts, reports
• Facilitate feedback to appropriate areas of company regarding customer and operational needs, business opportunities, and sales efforts through monthly reporting, CRM, and other means
• Work closely with sales management to ensure business is transacted accurately and within pricing guidelines to the highest ethical and legal standards
• Resolve customer complaints by investigating problems, developing solutions, preparing reports, making recommendations to management, and communicating resolutions to customers
• Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, participating in professional societies
• Monitor and report on competition by gathering current marketplace information on pricing, products, new products, delivery schedules, merchandising techniques, etc.
• Recommend changes in products, service, and policy by evaluating results and competitive developments
• Contribute to team goals by accomplishing related results as needed and working collaboratively with support staff and peers in other markets • Participate in marketing events such as trade shows, dealer events, seminars, etc.
• Ability to meet fixed deadlines under pressure, while working within budgets and specific targets
• Willing to travel on a continuing basis
• Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
• Minimum three to five years of experience in the OTR industry, with a deep understanding of channels, customers, and products. Experience working in a corporate setting, supporting a customer base that is geographically dispersed.
• Fundamental knowledge of business processes. Customer service orientation, organization skills, a team player, strong communication skills, influence skills, self-directing, and ability to work in a very fast paced, multi-tasking environment.
• Problem identification & solution skills.
• Basic computer knowledge & skills for various reports & presentations.
• Ability to travel extensively (60–70%) Must be based in Northern France.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
• High School diploma or equivalent required, college degree in marketing or business preferred.
• 5+ years working with dealers or in commercial divisions required. Commercial/OTR tire mounting & dismounting experience. • Experience in selling technical products, ideally commercial tires or even OTR.
• Experience with product service & warranties.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
• Fluent in French and English (Dutch is a plus)
